Friends of HP Friendship!

Our fest has come to an end, and today is the day for the big reveals. But before we come to that, let your mods, [personal profile] pale_moonlite and [personal profile] tetleythesecond, give a big round of thanks to all you fantastic writers, readers, commenters, reccers, and general supporters! You have produced a total of 25 fics, 499 review comments both on Dreamwidth and Livejournal, and so far six Daily Snitch Hot Recs. Who said that fandom was losing momentum?

Before we get to a few individual mentions, here is the

HP Friendship 2012 Masterlist )

And now for some Statistics. People wrote a great bandwidth; the 25 fics were about a total of 36 characters, including Mrs Norris and Ripper. The oldest was Griselda Marchbanks, the youngest were Albus Severus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy.

Ten people participated in the Guessing Game, and we have a hands-down winner: the Gold Medal goes to the Usain Bolt of Author Detection, [personal profile] miss_morland, with a total of 18 (!) correct guesses. Silver and Bronze go to [livejournal.com profile] pitry with 9 and [personal profile] primeideal with 8.

Our own little doping scandal is brought to you courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] therealsnape, who guessed on three fics in which she was named as a beta.

The most-guessed authors were [personal profile] kelly_chambliss and [livejournal.com profile] wemyss (with both stories). Six people guessed them correctly. The Stealth Award goes to four authors, all of whom got guesses, but none of them correct: [livejournal.com profile] gamma_x_orionis, [personal profile] inamac, [personal profile] miss_morland, and [livejournal.com profile] zofbadfaith.

Top commenters: First off, we have to say we are flattened by the response. Almost all fics went into the double digits, which is fantastic for a summertime fest at a time when comments in general seem to have been going down. You all can be proud of yourselves! Still, we would like to give an extra mention to the two of you who took the time to review every single fic. Come and get your medals, [personal profile] primeideal and [personal profile] kelly_chambliss!

And because a fest also lives from its reader-only supporters, the Golden Olive Wreath for top commenter from among the spectators goes to [livejournal.com profile] albalark with 23 comments.

Once more, thank you all for making this a fantastic fest!

Prompt/Prompt Author: #49: When Remus Lupin arrives at Hogwarts as a professor, among the many astounding things he learns is the fact that Snape's best (maybe only) friend on the staff is none other than Irma Pince, librarian. (Even if we see things from Remus's pov [which is up to you to do or not do as you please], the focus should be on the Pince, Snape relationship.)

[personal profile] kelly_chambliss, I hope I am doing your prompt justice. It is such a wonderful prompt, and I am afraid that I didn't manage to give the story the attention it deserves. I hope you enjoy this little offering nonetheless.
Dedicated to all the wonderful librarians around the world :)

Prompt/Prompt Author: Is it really friendship if one always gives and the other always takes? Albus Severus knows that Scorpius is his best friend, but he often wonders if Scorpius feels the same way. Being a bullied and generally isolated teenager, he's beginning to think it's not worth carrying on. With anything. Submitted by [personal profile] bgd_thrifty.

Prompt/Prompt Author: While Harry is away hunting Horcruxes, and the DA is fighting the Carrows as best they can, the rest of the students are left to find their own way. Especially the current Fifth Year (15 yr olds), who are old enough to defend themselves, but young enough to be foolish. How does this small group of students fight the darkness? These are not the characters that we know and love, but new ones. Feel free to create siblings for known characters or create ones that are completely original. Do these students divide along House lines and fight among themselves? Do some prefer to stick with older or younger years? Do some fall in love during this tumultuous year? How do they come together in the end, and how do they view the final battle? Who lives, and who dies? How are they effected later in their lives - do they come together again, after they have graduated?[livejournal.com profile] lmeden

Author's Notes: I'm afraid that the question asked in the prompt is one that the reader will have to answer – the plot sort of got away from me, but I hope the missing canon moments make up for it. My thanks to my beta for (as usual) comma-ectomy – one day I will remember, I promise) I may have been overly influenced by the children's literature of Enid Blyton.

Title: The Road to Roundabout
Characters: Dudley, Harry, Hermione, Millicent, Ron, Teddy, Draco, Arthur, Albus, Scorpius, and the usual cast
Rating: BBFC12/12A
Warnings: Antiquities; antiquities (non-Roman); British humour; cricket; gardening; ghosts; hauntings; nasty Saxon surprises; real ale; real cider; rural life; TMS; various off-stage deaths; village life
Word Count: 17806
Summary: In after years, Dudley lives quietly in the country with his family, and is always glad to see Cousin Harry. He’s made himself a countryman, has Dud; and as a countryman with knowledge of the Wizarding world, Harry finds him as useful and reliable as he now finds him a friend he’s proud to call cousin.
Author’s Notes: No drunkards or Chestertonians were harmed in the production. My apologies to Alan Garner as wanted. My respects to the shade – or revenant – of MR James, as always. I should like to assure readers that Dogmersfield, Thundry Pond notwithstanding, was named by the Saxons for its water-lilies, not for any Dagmar. Those so inclined may wish to have some Wagner on the wireless at certain points – you’ll spot them readily – particularly, say, Siegfried’s Funeral March. I suggest Furtwängler, Haitink, Elder, or Solti, as versions go.
I am specially obliged to M for grumblous but effective editing; this one is dedicated to my favourite drinker of absinthe, as a belated birthday gift. (Cheers, Bubba.)
You may read the relationship between Harry and Draco as you like.
