Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Word Count: 4700
Summary: Some rivalries survive death, let the bettor beware.
Author's Notes: Well, there may be a bit of angst, but not the usual kind. I do hope this doesn't flop altogether, [livejournal.com profile] igrockspock, but it was fun to do.

Prompt/Prompt Author: After being betrayed by Snape, Lily has no one she can turn to until Remus, never more than a casual acquaintance due to his friendship with James and Sirius, comes upon her and asks what's wrong.[livejournal.com profile] realmer06
Title: Invisible
Characters: Lily Evans, Remus Lupin, Severus Snape, James Potter, Sirius Black
Rating: PG
Warnings: None.
Word Count: 2.076
Summary: One can’t always remain invisible.
Author's Notes: I’ve always had a thing for Marauder’s Era fic, so I thought I’d give it a try this time. I listened to ”Comptine d'un autre été : L'après-midi” by Yann Tiersen while writing and I think it suits the mood of the fic very much. Thanks to L for the great beta-work and for helping me all the way, and the mods for the great support. I hope you like reading it as much as I liked writing it, Realmer06. :D

Title: Cocktail Time
Characters: Rita Skeeter, Gilderoy Lockhart
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Word Count: 10K
Summary: Not many people know this, but Rita Skeeter and Gilderoy Lockhart flatted together for a while after Hogwarts. They stole each other's hair products rampantly. He painted her nails, she transfigured his clothes. She wrote about him, he invited her to parties. It was fabulous, darling. This was Feather's brilliant prompt. And it sums it up, really. But then, things went wrong.
Author's Notes: When Rita Skeeter was absent from the public scene, following the horrific events at the Triwizard Tournament, speculation was rife. It has been suggested she had a passionate love affair (she’s had many, but they didn’t stop her from writing). Or that she suffered from Writer’s Block (Rita? Really?). Evil tongues even suggested Harry Potter stopped her from publishing. (As if. It was Potter who begged her to return to interview him for the Quibbler.)
Truth is, Rita Skeeter took a sabbatical to write a new book. And [community profile] hp_friendship gets the right of First Publication. Rita wants to thank her fabulous editor for all her hard work and the friendship mods for having the courage to publish this outspoken, honest account of her years with Gilderoy.

The Caretaker and his cat have lived together for years, but now one or both of them are reaching their time.

The Sceptic’s Guide to Spotting Impossible Beasts by [livejournal.com profile] pitry (Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood; 2050 words) -- On LJ.

What Always Has Been by [livejournal.com profile] realmer06 (Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom; ~7,600 words) -- On LJ.
Five years after the war, The Daily Prophet published a series of articles calling Neville “The Boy Who Might Have Been.” Harry was embarrassed, but Ginny was incensed, because she knew better than anyone that Neville was no Might Have Been.

Mad Dogs and Scotsmen by [personal profile] delphi (Alastor Moody, Emmeline Vance; 2,800 words) -- On LJ.
"Growing up in the country with old-fashioned grandparents, you slapped a poultice on whatever ailed you and hoped for the best. Dragon pox, a broken arm, being stuck in a trunk for ten months. Either you got well or you didn't, and that was that." Or, the one in which Emmeline chose a bad month to quit smoking.

Title: What Always Has Been
Characters: Neville and Ginny
Rating: PG
Warnings: I think some mild cursing, but nothing to get excited about.
Word Count: ~7600
Summary: Five years after the war, The Daily Prophet published a series of articles calling Neville “The Boy Who Might Have Been.” Harry was embarrassed, but Ginny was incensed, because she knew better than anyone that Neville was no Might Have Been.
Author's Notes: I had such an amazing time writing for this fest. I think that platonic relationships in fiction (and fanfiction) get unfairly overshadowed by romantic relationships, and I think we ought to do everything we can to change that, because platonic relationships are just as important, if not more so, as romantic ones. To me, Neville and Ginny exemplify this. I had such a good time writing these two and exploring their friendship!
Huge thanks has to go to my beta, M, for spending literally hours (like, two, but still. Plural) on the phone with me when I was writing this, or trying to write it. I’d be remiss if I didn’t let everyone know that the direction this eventually took (writing Neville into Harry’s void) didn’t entirely come from her. I was floundering. She threw me a life raft, and saved the story.
I was asked for dancing, adventures, Ginny and Neville doing what they’re good at, Ginny and Neville making each other into better people, and above all, Ginny and Neville as Equals. I hope I delivered.

Title: And it could be me, and it could be thee
Characters: Griselda Marchbanks, Augusta Longbottom, Neville, Harry, Dudley, Minerva, Pomona Sprout, Lily Potter (née Evans), Hermione, Angelina, Charity Burbage, WG Grace, various Longbottoms and connexions, various Marchbanks and Sitwells, and the usual cast

Word Count: 10217, bar footnotes
Summary: Augusta looks back upon a long friendship, and many surreptitiously-enjoyed cricket seasons, and bugger the pureblood fanatics.
Author’s Notes: Mr Roy Harper’s inspiration was invaluable. I am obliged to my editors, N & F, to whom this is aptly dedicated; to Wisden, naturally; to the dean and chapter of Durham; and to many, many others.

Prompt/Prompt Author: The war is over, Snape has survived and been vindicated. He wants to start over and starts a small business/shop of his own. Bonus points if it's nothing with potions or an Apothecary. Can be in the Muggle or Wizarding world. No matter if he just scrapes a living or the business blooms, he remains socially isolated. Soon, he realises his much-longed for solitude is really bitter loneliness, and that is not what he wanted. I'd like to see a friendship forming with the character(s) of your choice, against all odds - as of course Snape is pants at it, and does and did his best to scare everybody away. -- [personal profile] ysilme

Friends of [community profile] hp_friendship!

In about 24 hours, the waiting will have come to an end. We have 23 fantastic submissions and are looking forward to another few that will arrive over the next couple of days. With Saturday as our weekly catch-up day, this will give us a solid month of fic that focuses on happy, unhappy, supportive, fraught, complex, inter-ethnic, inter-generational, inter-species, sensual, intellectual, brotherly and sisterly, motherly and fatherly, class- and genders-spanning friendship between and among people of all magical abilities (or lack thereof). There will be communal nail-painting, solo cricket-watching, joint problem-solving, and mutual banter; there will be crushes, adventures, and unexpected discoveries. And let me just say that the Enid Blyton aficionadas among you will have more than one field day.

So, dear friends of [community profile] hp_friendship, pull up an armchair or a piece of Common Room carpet, grab a butterbeer (or gingerbeer), and join us in happy anticipation.

See you tomorrow around 6 pm, here on your reading list!

Your Mods,
